Water Testing
FAQ: How do you perform a water test, and how accurate is it?
Answer:
At Pool Geeks Brisbane, we prioritise accuracy and efficiency in our on-site water testing. We employ a combination of advanced technology and proven methods to ensure reliable results. Here's a breakdown:
Our Testing Methods:
- WaterLink Spin Touch Photometer:
- This is our primary tool for rapid and precise analysis. It utilises pre-filled reagent disks to measure most parameters like Free, Combined and Total Chlorine, pH, Total Alkalinity, Cyanuric Acid, Phosphates, Copper, Calcium Hardness, Magnesium Hardness, Total Hardness, and Sodium Salts.
- This technology minimises human error and provides consistent, accurate readings.
- Titration Tests:
- For Acid Demand we use traditional titration tests to perform a small scale simulation and ensure acid is not over-dosed.
- We also use titration tests to confirm results when we suspect a false photometric result.
- These methods provide accurate results through precise chemical reactions.
- T11 Conductivity Meter:
- This tool gives very accurate readings of the waters conductivity, and therefore the levels of salt/minerals, TDS, and Temperature within the pool water.
Accuracy:
- Our combination of methods ensures a high degree of accuracy. The WaterLink Spin Touch Photometer is designed for precision, and our technicians are trained to spot abnormalities and faults.
- On site testing removes the possibility of samples degrading during transport.
- By using professional grade equipment, we ensure that the results that we give to our customers are the most accurate that can be given.
What We Test:
- We conduct comprehensive testing, including:
- Free Chlorine
- ORP
- pH

Our Unique In-House Water Analysis System: Going Beyond Standard Testing
At Pool Geeks Brisbane, we don't just rely on standard test results and out of the box analysis. We've developed a proprietary, in-house water analysis system that sets us apart from the competition. This system is the culmination of over a decade of dedicated pool care experience and data collection, allowing us to provide an unparalleled level of insight into your pool's chemistry.
How it Works:
- Decade of Data:
- We've compiled an extensive database of pool water data from thousands of Brisbane pools, spanning over more than ten years.
- Industry Standards & Beyond:
- Our system incorporates all industry-standard water chemistry parameters, but goes significantly further.
- Parameter Interactions:
- Unlike most analysers, ours accounts for the complex interactions between multiple water parameters. We understand that changes in one or more parameters can significantly impact others.
- Environmental Factors:
- We factor in local environmental conditions, including seasonal changes and temperature fluctuations.
- Equipment Integration:
- Our analysis even considers the specific equipment you use, such as your chlorinator or automatic dosing system, pump, and heater.
- Continual Refinement:
- Our system is constantly refined and updated based on new data advancements and as the computational power of our devices increases we add in factors that could not previously be accounted for.
- Sophisticated Algorithms:
- Our system uses sophisticated algorithms to analyse the data, and provide the most accurate recommendations.
The Benefits:
- Unmatched Precision:
- Our in-house system provides a level of precision and insight that is simply not available with standard testing methods.
- Proactive Solutions:
- By understanding the complex interactions within your pool water, we can identify potential issues before they become major problems.
- Optimised Performance:
- Our analysis helps us optimise your pool's chemistry for maximum clarity, comfort, and equipment longevity.
- Tailored Recommendations:
- The recommendations that our technicians give you are the most tailored to your pool, and its environment, that can be given.
In essence, our in-house water analysis system allows us to provide a level of pool care that is truly exceptional. We're committed to using our expertise and technology to keep your pool sparkling and safe, year-round.
