Acid Demand
What is Acid Demand?
Acid Demand is simply the amount of acid required to reach the ideal pH level in your water sample. It is a calculation of how much acid you should add to your swimming pool based on a small scale test.
How do you test for it?
A standard 4 in 1 test kit should include an acid demand test. Follow the instructions provided with your test kit.
Why is it important?
Most pool water test reports estimate acid demand. This is not a bad option but requires a follow-up test to ensure that the pool water has actually reached the desired pH level, and more importantly, that it hasn't dropped below the safety minimum. If your pH drops too low your water is considered acidic and can cause stinging eyes, skin irritation and burns.
